| Cross Cultural Awareness
Community Services Courses
Designed to enable Indigenous project officers and
community workers through effective education and self
management. Both courses provide an exposure to work in
the community services industry.
Certificate I in Work Preparation
The Certificate I is designed to meet the needs of
individual communities. Study can be conducted in the
home community or at the College campus at Casuarina.
Study dates are negotiated between individual
communities and the College, with the course being
conducted full time over a 4 week period.
Students can apply for Abstudy to cover the cost of
travel, accommodation and meals for short courses.
However, the student, or their sponsor pays for the
course fee, as this is not paid for by Abstudy.

Certificate II in Community Services Work
The Certificate II is designed to meet the needs of
individual communities. Study can be conducted in the
home community or at the College campus at Casuarina.
Study dates are negotiated between individual
communities and the College, with the course being
conducted part time over an 18 month period.
By completing this course students will :

develop and understanding of the place of community
services in modern society;

learn what is expected of a worker in the community
services field;

gain knowledge about the different laws and
regulations in community services;

improve English reading and writing skills;

learn how to use computers;
-
learn to work safely.

Studies
Students can apply for Abstudy to cover the cost of
travel, accommodation and meals for short courses.
However, the student, or their sponsor pays for the
course fee, as this is not paid for by Abstudy.
