Cross Cultural Awareness Workshops
Nungalinya College has been offering Cross Cultural
Awareness Workshops since 1980.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People design and
present the program in a unique combination of
Indigenous and Western teaching styles. The workshop is
a Cross Cultural experience in itself.
The facilitating team believes that in sharing
themselves and their way of life in a non threatening
relaxed environment, they can help participants to
achieve an awareness and sensitivity to the needs of
Indigenous Australians when communicating and working
with them.
An understanding of Indigenous culture is developed by
talking and interacting with Indigenous facilitators.
The workshop is flexible to meet the needs of the
participations. Emphasis during the workshop is placed
on:
-
Worldviews and Value systems;
-
Aboriginal Kinship and Obligations;
-
Aboriginal Law and Discipline;
-
Communication and Protocols;
-
Ceremonies and Obligations.
